  > Bill West

"When I graduated, Bloomington was not an option."

Those are the words of Bill West, President and Founder of Option Six, a leading course development company in the e-learning industry.

Bill graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and immediately headed north to Chicago. He began work as a consultant with Arthur Andersen. Over the course of 10 years, West consulted for 18 businesses in twelve different cities in the Midwest and along the East Coast. In the early 1990s, economic development in Indiana's technology sector caught his attention.

"When Indiana made progress in Information Technology, I came back," West said. "Four years later, I jumped on an opportunity in Bloomington when they were able to offer a good market salary."

West served as a Chief Information Officer in the Bloomington area before building the Bloomington division of UNext in 2000, then starting Option Six in 2001. As president of an upstart technology company, West has been able to witness firsthand the business benefits of Bloomington.

"This is an ideal location for a technology-based company," he said. "There is a highly-skilled workforce here along with incredible bandwidth, not to mention low-cost, beautiful living."
